The Community Finance Hub provides free, respectful and non-judgemental services to people from all walks of life. While proudly Aboriginal-led, Muru Mittigar welcomes anyone in need of assistance – whether it’s financial counselling, help with energy bills or even emergency food relief.

Since 2011, the Hub has:

• Helped over 2,500 people

• Arranged over $2 million in no interest loans

• Delivered support through NILS, EAPA, OzHarvest Hampers, and more

These services not only relieve financial pressure but help people build skills, confidence and pathways toward long-term financial wellbeing.

Services You Can Access or Refer To

✅ No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS)

Small, safe loans for essential items like appliances, medical needs or car repairs – without the burden of interest.

✅ Financial Counselling

Qualified counsellors work with clients to manage debt, create realistic budgets and explore their options in a confidential setting.

✅ Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA)

An NSW Government initiative that helps people in short-term financial crisis cover their energy bills. Muru’s staff support the process by creating a budget with the client and issuing a voucher to help ease the pressure.

To apply for EAPA, clients will need to provide:

• • Proof of crisis (e.g. job loss, medical costs)

  • Proof of income and photo ID

  • 90 days of bank statements

• Latest electricity/gas bill (not a disconnection notice)

✅ OzHarvest Food Hampers

Emergency food assistance delivered with dignity and compassion.
